Breast Health Awareness Card Case Study

For 2 consecutive years, 2002 and 2003, The Aventis Oncology Department has chosen to use Promotions Unlimited's Breast Health Awareness Card for their October Breast Cancer Awareness Month's promotional piece.

We began receiving calls from individuals who either saw or received the Aventis model, and contacted us for additional pieces. We had requests from nursing schools, a recently diagnosed breast cancer patient as well as one from a client who requested 10 to given to her bridesmaids as part of their wedding favor.

Encouraged by the overwhelming public response, PUI sent a letter and survey to 400 industry leading women's clinics & mammography centers across the nation. We received an outstanding 10% response rate! Here are just a few of the comments we received:

"A hands on tool such as this breast card is a wonderful opportunity" (to increase breast exam awareness and increase the number of women conducting self exams) - Michelle Wilhite, Lead Mamographer at Premier Diagnostic Imaging Center.

"This is a great tool to educate" said Monique Preston, Director of The Breast Center.

Lydia Harris, Radiologist Technician at Southwest Florida Regional Medical suggests it be used to "Start at a much younger age - health class in high school to make young women much more aware, earlier learned the more it (Breast Self Exams) will be done."

All surveyed agreed that the breast card would be a useful reminder for women to self-exam and learn more about breast health.
